Two capability tracks. One integrated firm.
Most Somalia consultancies specialise in either advisory or engineering. We do both, and the integration is what makes the work distinctive.
- —Governance & institutional strengthening
- —Monitoring & evaluation
- —Research & political economy analysis
- —Conflict, security & social cohesion
- —Engineering & infrastructure delivery
- —Capacity building & training
- —Programme design & implementation
- —Procurement, FIDIC & ESHS management
Founded in 2018 to build a Somali-led firm to international standard.
KIGS Consulting was established to close a persistent gap in Somalia's advisory market: the distance between international technical standards and genuine local presence.
Most firms operating in the country choose one side of that line. They deploy expertise remotely and mobilise for a single contract, or they hold local access without the systems donors require. KIGS was built to hold both at once, and to sustain it permanently rather than project to project.
Today the firm operates from six permanent offices across Somalia, integrating advisory and engineering under one mandate, and holds the quality, safeguarding, and procurement systems required to deliver for the most demanding institutional clients.
Led by practitioners, governed as an institution.
Direction sits with a managing partnership and a bench of practice leads, each accountable for a discipline and each with direct Somalia and Horn of Africa delivery experience. Continuity of leadership between assignments is what allows KIGS to hold standards, retain institutional memory, and answer for every deliverable.
Strategy, client relationships, and final quality sign-off sit with the partnership, ensuring a single line of accountability on every engagement.
Governance, evaluation, research, conflict, capacity building, and engineering are each led by a senior practitioner responsible for method, standards, and technical review.
Core staff and specialist consultants are assembled around each mandate and supervised on the ground, not managed remotely from outside the country.
Multidisciplinary expertise, practitioner-led.
Alongside our core team, KIGS draws on 45+ specialist consultants, structured around six practice areas, each led by practitioners with direct Somalia and Horn of Africa experience.
